Who has never clicked an amazing dish realized by a great chef in a restaurant? But is it photography? Is is “fast-photography”, the fast-food of photography? You just have to refer to the first post I made already, the light, the composition and the story are defining a photography, so before shooting a dish, try to make one of this point if not all standing out, making it obvious for any viewer. What I like about the eggs, is the story they tell, anything is possible with them, from omelette to the most complicated souffle or patisserie, the limit is your imagination and what they have been used to! What I love about this picture is what it tells, the story we all get by looking at it. This little boy claiming on his shirt that we can all be friends, and yes we can! The fact that the picture is blurry, slightly under exposed, the subject under highlighted, everything is ok as long as the emotion and the message are delivered. At least this is my feeling. Direct light gives sharp image angles and lines. It is always helping with perspective definition and helps to outline the key subject of your image. It helps in composition and story telling. On this picture, what I particularly like is the direct sun light on the whole image contrasted by the soft light on the face of the lady in the front of the image. In color and in B&W, these moment are unique, resulting in light and situation paradox. This sensation of unity and immensity is then multiplied and intensified. In Black and White photography, it is quite simple, as you remove all the distraction from color you can focus on the 2 things that define the essence of all photography: the story to tell and the light to manage. On this picture, using a monochrome camera is critical to have the full light the captor sensitivity, thats for the technical point. From the story telling it is obviously an ode to laziness, but the low light makes the few photon remaining so interesting !
